honestly my mother was a huge champ about her eight-year-old asking to be bought an unabridged edition of the Odyssey for a birthday present, and then she was an equally huge champ about reading her eight-year-old the unabridged Odyssey as a bedtime story and pausing every four lines to define something for me, and let me just say that I have fucking TREASURED the opportunity to reverse that old tradition by more or less forcing her to sit on my couch and listen to Epic and pause it every four lines for my dissertation

After seriously considering it and replaying a few IFs that I really enjoyed I've decided that I will be changing the romance system to not be one based around hearts/flirt options, but instead a system that toggles if you're attracted to the RO or not. So I'm going to rework a few choices. So expect changes with that before the next update. That way you can pursue a romance without acting out of character for your MC just because you dont want to miss out on flirt options. That being said however, of course there will still be flirt options and what not for if you choose that. The option that toggles attraction will come up multiple times, so it'd be difficult to miss.

i'm not saying people shouldn't talk about him or that we shouldn't find him hot.

i just believe that certain people are only contributing to his dehumanization which isn't what he needs rn. a lot of fanfic blogs on here (of which i'm not a fan of) advocate for him, share updates, everybody was so heartbroken after seeing him on feb 21st. that's people who thirst over him all the time, but they're very active and vocal and bring the attention where it needs to be whenever something happens.

but the people who are like "omg let me see the sex tapes plz!11!" joke and that's it, without even try to open people's eyes on what the fuck is wrong with the media then it's useless. they're using him as a trend, like he's not a guy that hasn't chosen to be a part of this circus and doesn't deserve all of this. like you said, this is a 'out of sight, out of mind' generation, so they probably have a laugh, retweet and then scroll past it.

like i said, it was just "selfish" wishful thinking because people are being truly heartless towards him, tho i agree that this is better than radio silence. but some of the attention is making people forget he's a human being in a very dangerous situation, imo.

“The opposite of an intellectual… you really think you could do that, Caffrey?” Jones asked, reading through the cover description.

“Do what?” Neal responded, blinking at them in confusion. Instead of the overly innocent smile that would usually accompany a question like that from Neal, his face was just blank curiosity. It seemed that for once the con man wasn’t messing with them; he just hadn’t been paying attention. 

“Be the opposite of an intellectual,” Diana repeated for him with an incredulous chuckle. 

Neal’s brows furrowed lightly in confusion. ‘What’s an… intellectual?” he asked, seeming to struggle to recall the word. 

Diana scrutinized him, but despite all the years she had spent working with Neal Caffrey, she couldn’t find a single tell that he was lying. By all appearances, Neal Caffrey genuinely did not know the word ‘intellectual.’

“On second thought, that’s kinda scary,” Jones decided, taking an unconscious step backwards. “Please stop.” 

Neal finally broke, giving them a devious grin and a theatrical bow. Diana had to admit, seeing firsthand how convincingly Neal could become someone diametrically opposed to his actual self was a bit terrifying. The short demonstration had left her heart pounding and breathing slightly shallow. 

“Remember this the next time you doubt me,” Neal warned cheerfully, winking at them before sauntering away. Diana and Jones looked at each other once he was gone.

“That was scary, right?” Jones asked.

“Yeah,” Diana confirmed, “that was definitely scary.” 

Then an idea hit her. “I wanna see Peter’s reaction!”
